Shazia Ahmed HeadshotDr. Shazia Ahmed, MD, is a Board Certified and Fellowship Trained Surgeon at Arlington Eye Center. Her specific clinical and surgical interests include ocular surface disease, complex cataract surgery, laser vision correction and corneal transplantation. 

Dr. Ahmed graduated Magna cum Laude with Honors from Brown University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. She earned her Doctorate in Medicine from Medical College of Georgia. She completed her residency in Ophthalmology at Tufts Medical Center followed by a Cornea and Anterior Segment Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. 

Her personal interest in Ophthalmology was first sparked by her mother’s experience with cataract surgery. She believes there is no greater gift than restoring a person’s vision and allowing them to maintain their independence. 

She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Ahmed is also consistently named a "Top Doctor" in Ophthalmology by the Washingtonian.

In her free time, Dr. Ahmed likes to travel the world, hit the gym, and consume an unhealthy amount of podcasts.

Dr. Ahmed also sees patients at our partner practice, Malouf Eye Center, which is located in Camp Springs, MD.
